Today marks the outcome of a long time contemplation. UCANN2 will be shutting down all free resolvers world wide. This decision did not come easy, however with the new TLDs being added by ICANN in conjunction with the cost of running DNS resolvers, this is a step UCANN2 must make.
For the individuals and companies that are NS’d inside UCANN2, these will remain, however, these NS’s will be limited to regions EAST and WEST clusters. The structure in these cluster will remain intact and unaffected by the free resolver shut down. The dns-dist structure will also stay in place.
This shift, is an effort to maintain the most secure, reliable and fast DNS resolvers. The umbrella structure will also stay intact and will not be affected by this shift.
More information will be forth-coming as we move forward with this shift.
